Inner City Home and Office

A 1960s house in an inner city heritage area had been a flat for over 40 years. It needed revitalising to transform it into a flexible family home and office.

Rooms now double as versatile work and play spaces through the use of robust materials, sliding doors and windows.

A courtyard links buildings; and a deck and water garden provide a transition between the public and private realm.

At the rear of the house a new translucent stairwell captures light beautifully yet maintains privacy. The large stair landing doubles as a gathering place for children’s play.

An upper deck captures the late afternoon sun and gives an unexpected view of  Wellington villas that Mount Victoria is famous for.
