Making Connections

A Mount Victoria villa was a home above and a separate flat below. The two levels had never been  connected. The new owners proposed combining both levels to give them sufficient space for family living, without needing to increase the footprint of the house.

A bamboo stair now links the living areas above with the children’s bedrooms, bathroom and family room below.

Coloured light, from  a floor to ceiling window, plays on the acoustic panels to the stair walls.

The upstairs kitchen and bathroom lean-to is rebuilt lighter and brighter.
