The original homestead villa on a Wellington hillside was much loved but its family needed better space.
The house is raised up and a small, pokey workshop and storage area is transformed into an independent downstairs space for growing teenagers.
Dark dining and living areas upstairs are relocated with generous sash windows and doors to give wonderful sun, views and access to the large garden. Beautiful old verandahs are repaired, decks extended and courtyards added.
A new sunny kitchen becomes the heart of the house, while a cramped laundry cupboard in a small bathroom is reconfigured to become an efficient laundry/scullery off the kitchen with direct access to the outside.
The new ensuite has a spectacular sea view from the bathtub – much to the owner’s delight!
